# What Is MUSE0?
MUSE0 is a DAO created by an Alien (opens new window) and run by artists and curators. Today, NFTs often float aimlessly across the Internet, lost in a sea of tweets or trapped on commercial platforms and marketplaces. There is a lack of institutions built to cultivate, gather, and enshrine NFTs so that they have a more permanent home.
MUSE0 will reflect the ethos imbued by Cryptopunks. It is flat, participatory, and more expansive than earlier art institutions. It will not be run by a small group of experts, but rather by artists and collectors that have laid down the foundation for the growing and expanding NFT movement.
MUSE0 is pure in focus—centered on community, support, and charity—and not on monetization. It will collect NFTs, but not sell them. Not only will MUSE0 have a presence in the digital world and in various metaverses, but hopefully over time it will create a physical presence too.
MUSE0 aims to give a voice to those often neglected by the art world, due to the color of their skin, their nationality, or their sexual preference. In MUSE0, these underrepresented artists can help select and curate the new generation of great works, helping to reimagine the increasingly ossified institutions of the industrial age and presenting to the world a more comprehensive vision of the future. With all of us together, MUSE0 hopes to not only reimagine the means of creating digital works, but also the very manner in which these works are stored, displayed, and preserved.
# Who Created MUSE0?
The DAO was incubated by the members of Flamingo DAO (opens new window), with the aim of building a modern internet native museum to preserve and archive NFTs for future generations. The initial Dapp for MUSE0, along with the underlying smart contracts, was built by OpenLaw (opens new window).
# What Will The Roll Out For MUSE0 Look Like?
The roll out for MUSE0 is intended to be thoughtful in its approach. The aim, as mentioned elsewhere, is to collect and curate a permanent collection of NFTs representing artists and ideas from all over. In order to do so, the initial roll out will be focused on onboarding a group of artists from different breadths of the NFT space, whether that be artists and/or collectors based in the crypto-native art scene or those based in digital art, net art, generative art, or collectibles, and more.
In order to organize and capture these varied voices—and to give existing members the ability to effectively rally around the future of MUSE0—the roll out will be broken up into "seasons." The very first season will begin upon the launch of MUSE0.
A "season" will either be a fixed period of time or a fixed number of NFTs that can be donated to MUSE0. The scope and structure of these seasons will be entirely up to members and it is conceivable that each season could potentially unlock other exclusive benefits.
The purpose of the seasons are to operate as a community check-in and an opportunity to reflect on the MUSE0 community, as well as a period of consideration about what factors work best in running its future. For example, there could be an invite-only season or there could be a season focused on social voting.
# What Is Season 1 Of MUSE0?
Season 1 is intended to be lightweight and will seed MUSE0 with an initial collection of great works. The first season will be focused on collecting 150 different NFTs to enter the permanent collection of MUSE0. This will ensure that MUSE0 is set up for success and that the community can collaborate on MUSE0's future direction once the initial collection has sufficient weight.
# What Will The Subsequent Seasons Be?
As noted above, the scope and structure of subsequent seasons will be entirely member-directed. One can imagine that the members of MUSE0 may add some additional layers or curatorial factors, open up seasons to the community outside of MUSE0, or hold contests.
# When Will MUSE0 Launch?
MUSE0 will launch publicly on June 9, 2021.
